Medusa - Myth Reimagined
This sketch presents a contemporary reinterpretation of the mythological character Medusa. Instead of depicting her as the defeated monster of the traditional myth, I imagined an alternate narrative where Medusa defeats Perseus and reclaims control of her own story.
In this version, Medusa appears relaxed and confident, casually wearing Perseus’s severed head on her shoulder as if it were an accessory. She is holding a lollipop while one of the snakes in her hair curiously leans in to lick it, adding a touch of dark humor and personality to the scene.
The sunglasses and relaxed posture place the character in a modern setting, blending ancient mythology with a playful and rebellious attitude. Through this piece, I explored myth reinterpretation, character design, and storytelling through visual symbolism.
Medium: Pencil sketch.
